Front tie rods needed, need new brakes all the way around, some EVAP issues causing my good buddy CEL to take up permanent residence on my dash cluster,;can’t clear out a suspension system that I removed form the car, from the ecu.

My truck has developed a weird vibration/shudder in the steering wheel in slow hard turns (like in a parking lot). One of the tie rod boots is blown, but the tie rod ends and ball joints themselves all checked out OK. The cause remains an undiagnosed mystery.

Still restoring the SPG, so nothing is working right now. The Dakota needs a paint job and a little more suspension work (and a real exhaust.) The S40 needs nothing :)

My sonic makes a weird noise when I apply the brakes. I keep meaning to take it to the dealer.
My CRX is 25 years old. It has problems that aren’t really problems, just ‘this car is old’ problems. Suspension is tired. The only real problem it has is the passenger side tie rod end needs to be replaced, but I'm going to do that tonight

oh this is fun. Lets see, what i have to fix still.
-Headliner falling off
-failing muffler hangar
-leaking power steering return line fitting
-front wheel well liners need to be installed + cooling ducts,
-AC doesn’t work. Condenser seems to have been disconnected for quite a while.
-rear brake dust shields are rotted out and need replacing so I can install passenger side parking brake properly.
-passenger side sunroof drain is fucked
-radio mounting is fucked.
-shifter probably could use new bushings
-MAF to throttle body tube is cracked and full of holes (have the part)
-COSMETIC ISSUES many
But the car still manages to put a smile on my face and I keep putting money into knowing full well I well never see the money again if I try to sell it.
Actually this list wasn’t too bad.
I think my jeep just needs the neutral position sensor to be cleaned, an alignment, and a new windshield.

My car is a modern VW with an expired warranty.
The Day Of Reckoning is nigh, when it will just spontaneously combust leaving nothing but a smattering of broken window regulators and faulty coil packs in its wake.

What is right?
Actually, the rear swaybar bracket broke sometime.
Engine seeps oil from all the deals, probably could use a rebuild after the 256k
The other cars I won't even go into.

Is it hard to find parts for the GTO?
![]() 05/22/2015 at 12:46 |
|
Well that’s an occasion to make a neat list. Let’s see:
Magnum:
- link kit AND/OR tie rod end (it rattles everytime I hit a bump. Don’t drive it enough to be bothered right now)
- need new spark plugs (16 of them, so yeah.)
- transmission needs a flush
- needs new tires and rims (shitty OEM are rotting)
- little leak in the sunroof, I suspect the motor is too weak to fully push the glass all the way up.
- bodywork to fix various scratches
- new front bumper
- rear bumper foam
- a new paintjob.
318is
- exhaust leak
- needs new shifter bushings
- tires
- A/C not working
- fan blows at 10/10 regardless of the setting it’s in
- surface rust (who cares, though. Drift missile)
- Engine doesn’t make enough power (important, it’s a drift missile)
- Diff isn’t welded

Not mine but what it would look like out of my car, except mine would be rustier.
![]() 05/22/2015 at 12:55 |

Water pump leaks at the seal, fuel pump module needs to be replaced (even though it pumps fuel just fine,) I think one of the transmission bearings needs to be replaced, and the power radio antenna motor never stops running so I cannot even listen to the radio (without it being punctuated with a loud clunk twice a second.)
![]() 05/22/2015 at 12:59 |

Are we related? I have a busted passenger window regulator at the moment and I just know something else large is coming.
![]() 05/22/2015 at 14:47 |

Not really. Just weird bespoke stuff like interior bits and whatnot. GTOG8TA.com makes aftermarket versions of the harder to find stuff, so it’s not so bad. The engine and drivetrain came in every other GM product, so parts for those are very easy to find.
![]() 05/22/2015 at 15:06 |

Too late to edit.
The Civic is actually much harder to find parts for than the GTO is.

I’d really like to put in an MSD ignition system and a holly street avenger carb in my truck. The stuff in there is not technically broken but the 29 year old parts are really starting to feel their age.

Shocks are bad... one leaf spring needs to be machined... Really not bad anymore!

‘99 Camry - flex pipe between the down-pipe and the cat needs replacing and the passenger side adjustable rear suspension arm needs replacing (bushing is beyond shot)
‘91 Volvo 245 (project car) - need to replace shocks/struts, virtually all suspension bushings, tie rods, ball joints, steering u-joint, exhaust hanger(s), bleed brakes, sort out no-brake light problem, etc, etc.
‘10 Accord - replace driver-side cv joint (probably) and get new timing chain & water pump done.
